Round Robin Shakespeare

Round Robin Shakespeare is for all those who are interested in language, literature, and/or theatre. The works of William Shakespeare are among the greatest of all theatrical literature. Most people get to read one or two in high school and maybe see a movie. Sometimes, we get to see televised versions on PBS, and, if we are lucky enough to live near a theatre presenting one of the plays, we can experience them live and in person.

But, most of us never see all of them and many of us never even read all of them.

Round Robin Shakespeare is meant to change that.

There are similar programs around the country--Nashville Shakespeare Festival's Shakespeare Allowed!, for one--and we encourage you to seek them out if you're traveling.

If you get to New York City in the summertime, try Shakespeare in the Park!
Our program is organized by Elaine Smith, a Jacksonville native, returned to the area after more than 25 years in NYC, where she ran her own business as a project manager and computer programmer in order to support her other career as an actor, director and playwright. Elaine is a member of Actors' Equity Association, SAG-AFTRA, the League of Professional Theatre Women, and the Dramatists Guild. She has directed regionally and in New York, and is the author of the award-winning play, Angels and Ministers of Grace. Elaine has a lifelong love of Shakespeare, but she's never read all the plays and welcomes this opportunity to make it through the whole canon.

She's thrilled to be doing it in association with the Clay County Public Library where her grandmother, Hazel Cartwright, worked for many, many years.
